Advices

Ao longo destes meses tenho reunido informação sobre o que fazer no dia da chegada.

Consultei alguns sites como workgateways e requesitei a ajuda da tugaemlondres, que tem sido impecável na pronta resposta de todos os emails. Ultimamente tenho utilizado os recentes contactos que me foram amavelmente fornecidos por (ex) colegas de trabalho.

Um desses contactos vive e trabalha na Holanda. Mesmo assim mostrou-se muito útil! A informação segue abaixo:

- after arrival, start making all the bureaucratic arrangements asap, e.g.
arrange National Insurance number, sign up with dentist, doctor etc etc.

-embrace the culture, don't stay within your own group of nationals, otherwise
you will never start to feel at home there !!!

- British (work) culture is very much about (binge) drinking, be prepared to withstand a lot of social pressure if you don't want to end up with an addiction..

- British (London) work culture often involves long working hours and a long commute, and the culture may be more different than you expect, with e.g. strong British diplomacy and indirectness ;-)

- enjoy your stay, expand your horizons, see as much of the
country as possible, travel lots, it's great !

- you will learn lots (e.g. perfect command of the English language, other ways of working etc etc), your stay will be of great benefit to your future !!!
